Our Approach

Therapy shaped around you

There is no one-size-fits-all model here. Our psychologists are trained across a wide range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), schema therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy, interpersonal and psychodynamic psychotherapy, trauma therapy and mindfulness-based techniques. Your psychologist will recommend the approach best suited to your concerns and adjust it as you go.

FAQ

Common questions

What can an adult psychologist help with?

Our psychologists support adults with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress and burnout, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, major life changes, sexual and identity concerns, perinatal mental health, low self-esteem and long-standing difficulties. If you’re not sure whether psychology is right for what you’re experiencing, you’re still welcome to reach out — our team can help guide you.

What happens in my first psychology session?

Your first session is about getting comfortable, feeling heard and beginning to make sense of what has brought you in. Together, you and your psychologist will explore your concerns, develop an initial understanding of what may be contributing to your difficulties, and identify what you would like to work towards. From there, your psychologist can develop a tailored plan for your care and support you at a pace that feels right for you. There’s no need to have everything figured out before you come in.

Do I need a referral to see a psychologist?

No. You can book directly without a referral. If you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan and GP referral, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate. We also offer affordable appointments with provisional psychologists, with no limit on the number of sessions and no referral necessary.

If you have a referral or Mental Health Treatment Plan or any other funding document, please email this through before your appointment where possible. There’s no need to prepare anything else unless your psychologist has asked you to bring specific information.
