Onaiza Owais
Onaiza is a registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). She holds dual Masters degrees – a Masters in Professional Psychology and a Masters in Counselling from Monash University. Her areas of interest include trauma, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, ADHD, stress management, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, and adjustment disorders.
Onaiza aims to create a genuinely safe and nurturing therapeutic space where clients can authentically express themselves without judgment. Working from a trauma-informed approach, she utilises therapeutic interventions including CBT, Schema Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Solution-Based Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Her therapeutic work recognises that current struggles are often connected to past experiences, and healing occurs through understanding and processing these connections, while exploring how they are affecting us in our lives now. She takes a collaborative approach, actively encouraging feedback throughout the therapeutic process to ensure therapy remains responsive to each person’s unique needs and goals.
In addition to therapy, Onaiza conducts comprehensive psychological assessments including cognitive, adaptive functioning, educational, and ADHD assessments to diagnose intellectual disability, ADHD, and specific learning disorders in reading (e.g. dyslexia), written expression, and mathematics, providing recommendations for evidence-based treatment and support strategies for school and home settings.
