Hugh Piercy

Registered Psychologist

Hugh is a dedicated registered psychologist who brings authenticity, warmth and compassion to all of his therapeutic work. Hugh believes in working collaboratively with clients to create tailored treatment approaches that honour each person’s unique story and help them to achieve their goals and live a meaningful life.

Hugh comes to DS Psychology with a background in disability support and addiction treatment. Hugh supports clients experiencing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety (social anxiety, panic, generalised anxiety and phobias), obsessive-compulsive disorder, perfectionism, stress, addiction, depression and low mood, sexuality-related concerns, life transitions, neurodiversity-related concerns, grief and loss.

Hugh draws from therapeutic frameworks that explore the connection between a person’s past and their present-day difficulties, supporting insight, clarity and change. Hugh will typically spend the initial sessions getting to know you and understanding your individual needs before developing a targeted treatment plan that is tailored to address your specific goals. If you are unsure whether Hugh can help with your problem, you are welcome to book an initial consultation where he can discuss treatment options and provide relevant referrals if appropriate.

Outside of psychology, Hugh is passionate about cooking, trail-running, hobby bee-keeping and playing video games and piano.

Hugh is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA) and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPi).
